Use a Swimming Pool Vacuum to Save Money
As private swimming pools have become popular, there are various kinds of vacuums available in the market. The automatic vacuums offer a good line of hygiene and maintenance if swimming is done regularly. Some of the products already available include Polaris 340 cleaner vacuum, Baracuda Pacer vacuum cleaner, Pool buster Max vacuum Aquatic vacuums and Pro-strength Vac head Vacuum.
Most in ground pools have a skimmer located at the edge of the pool to remove floating debris like leaves and bugs. A pool drain inlet is normally located at the bottom of the pool and is used to remove dirt and waterlogged debris that has sunk to the bottom of the pool. When the pool vacuums system is running the skimmer and bottom inlet are feeding dirty water to the pool pump. The pool vacuums pump works just like your vacuum in your home. The pump creates suction that pulls the dirt to a canister or filter tank that removes the dirt and filters the water and returns it to the pool. A timer turns the vacuum pump on and off each day as scheduled.
Pool vacuums are very much like a canister vacuum in that the have the ability to use a hose and wand to sweep the side and bottom of the pool to remove dirt that is adhered to the pool walls. The process of sweeping a pool can be time consuming and may take up to more than an hour. Using the long wand or pole that may be 20 feet long is really quite boring. You must be patient, if you sweep to fast the dirt will become suspended into the water column and the pool vacuum will not remove it.
Many people find the process of using a hand or pole pool vacuum far too time consuming and have opted for an automatic pool vacuum cleaner. These units can be a great time savior and are good for preventing your pool from getting so dirty that it must be cleaned by hand. These crawlers creep along the bottom powered by the suction from the pool pump. You will frequently hear a snapping sound as they work and this is the pool vacuums valve opening and closing as it moves. It should be noted that even the best automatic pool vacuum will miss areas in your pool. You will have to identify these areas and physically clean them by hand.
Most pools have a pool cage around them to reduce both insects and the amount of leaves and other debris from getting in the pool. However there is a lot of dirt, pathogens and biologics that are relatively small and will end up in your pool even with a screen. Even if your pool looks good to the naked eye it may in fact have unseen grime or biologic problems. Many times your chemical monitoring will give you an indication that something is not right. Giving your pool a good brushing and cleaning will in many cases solve the problem.

As a pool contractor, we advise customers to get automatic swimming pool cleaners. They are great at cleaning the pool and keeping it swimmable & hygenic. THough they do not clean the sides of pools and you will need to get a large scraper to remove any algae or dirt buildup from that area.
