Make Your Job Easier With A Florida Zip Code Map

by Dawn Wysonowski

As a real estate agent in Florida, it’s helpful to have a visual representation of your service area set up right in your office. Even with all the advances in navigation tools and internet map sites, sometimes having an actual physical map to roll out if front of you can get you a better sense of your own neighborhood. That’s where a Florida zip code map can come in handy.

A real estate agent has to spend a lot of time in the car - going to and from open houses and client meetings, carting buyers around to look at homes, etc. High gas prices have had an affect on everyone, but especially those in a mobile field like real estate. You can decide how big an area you want to work, what makes sense with your gas budget, etc by using a Florida zip code map to get an idea of how large your area is.

There are plenty of Florida zip code maps available online, either for free or purchase. While getting a “free” anything is appealing to everyone, it’s a safe bet that a free zip code map isn’t going to be as detailed nor clear as one you can purchase for under $20. Most maps are available on a state or county level and clearly mark zip code boundaries throughout. Most will also include major roads and landmarks but not so many that the map is as totally cluttered and hard to read as an atlas.

If you’re looking to save yourself gas and time when it comes time to take your buyers out, your best bet is to use a combination of technology and actual map printout. If you choose to buy a Florida zip code map and download it, you can print a copy for yourself as often as you choose. Once you have a few houses to show your buyers, physically mark them on your map and from there you can pick an obvious route to hit up all the homes without having to backtrack or drive around in circles.

School district is often an important deciding factor for buyers. You can also use your Florida zip code map to impress them ahead of time. Find out which school districts are the best, what zip codes they include, and than map it out to show your buyer. The more tools and visuals you have and the more you anticipate their needs, the more impressed most clients are.

Another great use of a Florida zip code map is as an organizational tool. When it comes time to prospect new areas, get yourself organized by assigning yourself a new area to prospect everyday. You can even make a game of it - throw your map on a dartboard, grab yourself a dart and let luck decide which neighborhood you’ll be in hanging door hangers.

Last but not least, some zip code maps will mark off neat little landmarks, areas, parks, etc that may not show up on digital map sites. When it comes to impressing buyers, this could wind up winning you some brownie points. Regardless if you prefer to work strictly online with electronic data, or you prefer having hard copies of your data, a Florida zip code map can make your job much easier - if you know how to use it.

Credit Card Debt Consolidation: What You Need to Know

by John Brennan

There are often warnings in the newspapers about the high levels of credit card debt that many consumers have. You know how simple it is to let your credit cards get higher than you can manage - not having to pay immediately upon purchase often means the pain or struggle of having to pay for the item is delayed.

Just a few extra purchases in a month can add up to a debt that you can’t eliminate before the next statement date. Do this a couple of times in a row and you are soon hitting your credit card limit and just meeting the monthly minimum becomes difficult.

The moment you use your credit card to make a purchase is when a credit card debt begins. But most people don’t think of their credit card in that way. They see it as being a convenient way to buy more than they could otherwise afford and the problems begin when the debt can’t be repaid. This is because any debt is exacerbated by high interest rates and late fee.

Its no surprise that credit card companies make their profits from the high interest that they apply to outstanding balances and from late fees for missed payments. But at the same time they want to make sure their money is repaid and they are often relentless in tracking down outstanding monies owed to them. For many people, the only way out of this credit bind is to take out a credit card consolidation loan.

The problem with accruing a large credit card debt is not only the pressure that it puts on your finances and your life but it also impacts your credit rating. As soon as a cardholder defaults or misses a payment, credit agencies are informed. Having a poor credit score makes it more difficult to get loans and often increases the cost of any loan that you can get.

Finally, if a customer continues to default, other creditors may increase their interest rates for that customer, even if the individual has paid all of the debts to that particular company. This is known as universal default and only makes the situation worse for someone who is struggling to get out of debt. Bad credit is contagious. The popularity of plastic credit is soaring worldwide, in spite of awareness of how damaging credit cards debt can be. Today’s college graduate will more than likely owe at least several thousand dollars when entering the workforce and will be forced to take out more loans for debt to cover the existing debt. The cycle is continued. Acting responsibly is the first step to taking control.

What do you really know about Guinea Pigs

by John Savage

How many times I wonder have you visited with a friend or relative only to find one of their children enthusiastically dragging you out to the back yard to see their new guinea pig, and then left you wondering how much or how little you know about these animals?

And delightful they are, for guinea pigs make great pets, but they were not always a domestic animal, so just where do they originate from, and where did they get that name from, because, lets face it, its a rather odd name.

Well let me shock you by firstly saying that they are actually rodents, and are technically known as Cavies, but don’t let all this put you off, please read on.

They have sprung into popularity within the past few decades and this might well make you think that they are a new pet, but think again. Archaeologists have uncovered fossilised remains dating back millions of years, making them a very old pet indeed!

Those same fossils indicate that the guinea pig used to be much larger than it is today, anything up to 9 feet long.

Now where do they come from? Well they originated in South America, and were first domesticated by the Incas. They were both a religious Icon, and sadly a source of food, and this is still the case even today in parts of Peru, Bolivia, and Ecuador.

Ever thought a rodent would be considered to have healing powers? Well in some parts of Peru they believe this and they think that the guinea pig can aid the transition from this life to the next. Now that is quite something!

It is believed that sailors were responsible for bringing guinea pigs to Europe and America, and during that time period they were sold for one guinea each - hence guinea pigs.

The other part of the name comes from what is in my opinion a vague likeness to the rear end of a pig, and also to the tendency to squeal like a pig.

They have also been used quite a bit over the years in the field of research, and you have probably heard and used the expression “we are using him as a guinea pig”

Many years ago medical science cottoned on to the idea of using guinea pigs in their research, and although the downside was the end for the guinea pig, the upside is that it has saved many a human life.

Even today they are still used for research but in a more humane way which we are told does not cause any distress to the animal.

Today in Peru, guinea pigs still play a prominent role in various ceremonies, and quite often a person will give one as a present when they are trying to impress.

You may be surprised to learn that a rodent could be so well loved, but a recent survey placed guinea pigs just behind dogs, cats and rabbits in the popular pet league.

Well now, the next time your friend’s children show you their latest pet I think you will look at it with different eyes.
