Replace Kitchen Countertop

by Charlie Reese

What to do When You Want to Replace Kitchen Countertop

If you want to replace kitchen countertop, first know that you are going to have to go through a process that really should not be rushed. Remodeling any part of your home should never be hasty, but especially when it comes to the kitchen and its main focal point, the countertops, you are going to want to put a lot of time and consideration into your decisions.

Material

The first step to replace kitchen countertop is to decide on the type of material you want the new countertop to be made of. Granite is the classic choice and the one that most homeowners decide to go with.

Although it is a bit more expensive than the other choices, it is well worth it because it is stain-resistant, kid-resistant. Also it does not chip easily and it is much more low-maintenance than other natural stone materials.

If you want to replace kitchen countertop you may also want to consider engineered stone. This is a relatively new option in countertop material, but one that is fantastic nonetheless. Although the look of engineered stone is more uniform than natural stone you will still get a more upscale look with the engineered stone than solid-color laminates.

Stainless steel is yet another option if you are planning to replace kitchen countertop, and one that is ideal in many ways. Not only is it one of the most resilient and durable materials for a countertop, but also affordable.

Stainless steel countertops are non-porous and therefore do not absorb odors, stains, or germs, which makes them very easy to clean and take care of.

Choosing to replace kitchen countertop is a big deal, and you need to take it seriously and put all the time and consideration into it that is required. There are also other factors that you are going to want to think about, including how well your new countertops are going to blend with the rest of your kitchen and also whether you are going to enjoy them for years to come and not regret the decision.

Countertops are the most major aspect to any kitchen, so make sure that you take advantage of all the available help out there and use all the available resources to your advantage. There are some professionals out there who are going to walk you through the process and ensure that everything goes as smoothly as possible for you.

Every Small Business Needs A Credit Card

by Robert Bain

Every small business needs a credit card that is attached to it. Regardless of what products or services you offer, this is important. You want to provide your business with all of the elements it will need to survive in this competitive market. You also need to have some form of financial access for your business when you need something in a hurry.

Credit cards are very important for every small business to have. This doesn’t mean you use your personal credit card to buy what you need for the business. It means that you have at least one that is in the business name only. This is the perfect way to start establishing a solid credit history for your business.

It the eyes of other people and other lenders, the fact that you have initiated some form of credit for your small business says a lot. Statistically more than half of all small businesses will shut down during the first year. Lack of income and lack of planning are the leading reasons for this. With a business credit card it shows you plan to stay around and that you have a plan of action when you don’t have money readily available to use.

There will always be items you need to buy for any small business. Using a credit card for them and then immediately paying it off shows you to be responsible with that credit. As a result you will see your interest rates dropping and your credit limit increasing. You don’t want to get into the habit of carrying a balance on the business credit card unless you absolutely have to.

Once you do so you pay off that credit card balance. Try to keep your balances low so you will have the credit you need available should something come up. Always stay on top of what your credit card balance is for the business. Be very selective in what you decide to charge on it. You only want it to be necessities so make sure you have a clear understanding of what they are.

The biggest issue to remember is that you don’t want to have your personal information or assets tied to that business credit card in any way. Some credit card companies will tell you to do so in order to get a lower rate. This may be tempting but it can lead to problems with your personal finances if your business doesn’t work out. You want it to be able to stand alone so work for that from the very start.

Don’t just apply for the first business credit card you come across though. Find out what the eligibility criteria is for it. Find out what the rates are, fees, penalties for late payments, and incentives for being responsible with the credit you are extended. You want to find the right deal for type of business needs.

Credit cards are very important for small businesses so get at least one in place as soon as you can. You never know when you will need to access that credit in a hurry. Even if you don’t get the best terms or credit limit to start with, do what you can and work to improve from there. Establishing your business credit takes time but getting a credit card is a sure way to get the ball rolling.

Tripping The Debt Spiral

by Michael Benifez

When you come to grips with your current financial state or financial disaster whichever the case, the next step is often the starting point of consolidating debt on the credit cards. This step can make managing the debt easier and give a clearer plan to reverse the debt spiral. For now put your feelings aside and get focused. Once heading down the consolidation path you’ll find many offers and options.

When looking at any credit card offer to consolidate your debt look for one with the best rates so you can get the most paying off power possible. Using the right credit card with a low APR can help lower the debt faster.

Once you’ve selected a credit card to do the consolidating, it is time to start prepping. Take all of your bills and get them organized so you’ll have all the information handy to start the process of applying for the credit card and transfer the bills over. In the long run the lower interest will save you money. Once all the bills are transferred over onto one card you’ll be in a better position to get focused and back on track retiring the debt. For some consolidation is not the right path and for others reducing debt through consolidation is the perfect financial step to get them heading down the right path. The truth is, if the interest on your credit card is too high which is costing you every month it is in your best interest to find a card with a much lower rate. Take the time to improve your finances.

Once you’ve moved all the bills over to one card - DO NOT pay the minimum. Seriously attack your lower interest debt by paying as much as possible on open balance. With a lower interest rate and hopefully a card with a flat or low APR you’ll be able to pay higher amounts to reduce the balance.

The key is focus! Focus on reducing your debt, focus on finding a lower interest card, focus on paying as much off on the balance every month as fast as you can and watch the debt disappear.

Countertop Cleaners

by Charlie Reese

Different Countertop Materials Need Different Countertop Cleaners

Just as not all countertop materials are alike, so not all countertop cleaners are alike. You need to know what material your countertops are made out of in order to find the correct cleansers for them. Each material has differing needs and quirks. Not only do you have to deal with stains and spills, but also with scratches and scuffs. You can also avoid damaging your countertops with some preventative actions.

Laminate

This is the most popular countertop material to be found just about anywhere. It’s inexpensive, relatively light weight, scratch resistant and one of easiest to clean. Just about any cleansing product for surfaces can be used as laminate countertop cleaners. It’s recommended that you try to use countertop cleaners that are as mildly abrasive as possible. You also do not want to wax laminate countertops.

Glass

Glass countertops go through cycles of being popular. However, they are incredibly difficult to keep clean. Any fingerprint or smudge seems to magnify with glass. They also can scratch easily. Any time you clean your glass countertop - or even if water spills on it - you need to towel it dry or it will leave unsightly watermarks. Use a very mild countertop cleaner like Soft Scrub and rinse with water afterwards, then towel dry.

Stainless Steel

Many professional kitchens and restaurants use stainless steel countertops. They are heat resistant, but try to use hot plates when you can. There are two kinds of finishes - bruised and smooth. The smooth tends to show fingerprints and watermarks more than the bruised. Stainless steel countertop cleaners should be as mild as possible, even just baking soda diluted in hot water.

Many stainless steel countertops — bruised or smooth - develop a grain, similar to wood grain. When you use your countertop cleansers on such a grained stainless steel surface, rub in the direction of the grain. This will keep the countertops from looking worn out, as well as keeping them clean and sanitary.

Granite

The trendy countertop material nowadays seems to be granite. This is solid rock and is trickier to maintain than any of the materials so far discussed. You can’t use harsh scrubbing sponges or countertop cleaners on granite. Even acidic foods like citrus fruits or vinegar can leave permanent stains, so clean as soon as you realize they have contact with your countertops. You cannot rely on ordinary countertop cleaners. You have to use only cleansers made specifically for stone.

When to Buy Countertop Paint

by Charlie Reese

Is Countertop Paint the Way to go?

If you are redoing your kitchen you may be trying to decide whether countertop paint is the way to go. This is one of the many options when it comes to designing countertops, and the material that you choose for your countertop is going to be very important, but there is the option of choosing paint.

The biggest disadvantage of countertop paint is that it often comes off looking cheap and unprofessional, but as long as you get an experienced painter to do the job for you, it can come off looking great and you will be glad that you did it.

Other Options

There are many other options available to you as well if you are looking to remodel your countertops, other than countertop paint. Granite is the classic material, although it is a bit more expensive it always turns out great and a lot of fun.

Finding the perfect countertop for the most active room in your home can definitely be a challenge but is worth every bit of effort that you put into it. After all this is going to be the busiest room in the home and so of course you want to make sure that it looks great and that it is going to be functional.

Granite is stain-resistant and very easy to maintain, and it is also kid-resistant so if you have children in the home you will not have to worry about them ruining it.

Marble is the second most popular choice of material for countertops, if you are interested in countertop paint. Marble countertops are becoming a very popular choice for several reasons, namely due to their unique and stylish appearance. Unlike granite or slate and other similar materials, which creates a uniform look around the room, marbled stone has an added design feature of natural accents and so you have the personalization built right into it.

These are just two of the many materials that you can use for your countertops, so if you do not want to use countertop paint at least you can rest assured knowing that you have a plethora of other options.

If you need help with this, there are professionals out there who are going to be more than willing and able to help you out, walk you through the process and make sure that you make the best decisions for your home, and for your budget, because of course you can only pay for what you can afford.

What Does Long-Term Care Cost? Who Pays?

by Terry Stanfield

In the many different discussions about the importance of long-term care insurance costs, there is often very little discussion about how much it will cost an individual. For many, the long-term care insurance cost is immaterial when compared to the benefits it can bring to an individual who is in need of long-term care.

For typical long-term care, that which does not come from an insurance plan, the cost is taken on by the family or friends of the individual. This is too often the case and for some families, the cost of paying hundreds or even a thousand or more a month for nursing home costs, is simply too much to handle.

However, what can one expect to pay in long-term care insurance plans? Well, generally for a lifetime payment of premiums that gives $500 a week benefits for 250 weeks, a male aged 40 would pay $38 a month, while a female aged 35 would pay $39. At age 55, a female would pay $75, while at age 60 a male would pay $140.

Once they reach the age, or situation, where they will need the long-term care, they can expect to pay as little as $800 per month to have a room in a nursing home, or as much as $5,000. If an individual needs a homemaker or personal care provider in their home, it will be $15 to $25 per hour, while nursing home care can be between $25 and $65 per hour.

This is why it is incredibly important to make sure you get the insurance plan that will allow you to handle long-term care costs like those. At $500 per week, you will bring in $2,000 per month that will give you the ability to stay in a mid-range nursing home, which is better than having nothing at all because you did not have a long-term care insurance plan.

Medical insurance does not pay for these expenses, and unless you have very deep pockets you are not going to be able to last on your savings for long when you are paying those kind of rates. As a result, long-term care insurance is one of the most important forms of insurance you can ever get. Conclusion Long-term care is a reality of our existence. At some point, if we live long enough, we are most likely going to need someone to help us with day-to-day activities. It is unfortunate, but it is life. The costs of this are often taken on by family, and they can run into the thousands of dollars per month in some cases. This is a horrible situation for many families to be in because they want to provide the care for loved ones, but simply cannot do so.

As a result, long-term care insurance alleviates that pain and helps make the experience bearable, financially speaking. It can help you get the care you need, while keeping your family from having to pawn their items to pay for it. It is the best solution for everyone and if you start early, it can cost you less than cable television per month.

You should just ask for help from an insurance representative who specializes in long term care insurance to answer any questions.

Easy tips on buying a life insurance.

by Todd Martin

People are concerned about their future and they really want to secure their future and so the best way to secure your and your loved ones future is by taking a life insurance policy. This world is full of dangers, and with the rising pollution levels it is always advisable to take a life insurance to protect your loved ones future. Life insurance is a program which gives cover to you and your family in times of needs. It is very simple to buy a life insurance policy, but still there are a few things that should be taken into consideration before taking one.

First things first, determine what the correct amount of cover that you require is; the best thing to do is to find out what kind of insurance cover that you should buy. This is actually the most important issue which needs to be taken care of initially. The reason is that if you go for a higher amount of insurance cover the premium will also be high and above all if you don’t need it, extra cover will be wasted. On the other hand, if your cover is quite less, it might not be sufficient to provide you the required protection that you might need. My advice is that if you are confused and finding it difficult then the best thing to do is to call upon an independent insurance agent who can give you all the details and can sum up everything that you may require in future and can help you to take a correct decision. Second step is to check out what exactly your insurance should cover you with, for example if you already have the disability cover then there is no point in buying another insurance having the same benefits. You can simply remove this from your next insurance policy which will help to reduce the premium on it.

Now comes another part to choose the type of insurance policy you want. There are many types of insurance policies available in the market. These can be the term life insurance, whole life insurance, universal life insurance and also insurance for people above the age of 50 years. All these insurance are reasonably priced. You also get expensive unit link insurance policy. You simply have to take your decision about the term of the policy according to your requirement. If you require the policy that should cover you for your entire life then you can go for a whole life insurance plan. In all the other insurance you will have to require renewing the policy after the policy gets expired. Once you have also finalized the type of policy that you want the next step would be to take the quote of the insurance. Different companies offer different price quotes according to your age and the term of the insurance cover that you are looking for.

There are many companies that are offering life insurance and so there is stiff competition amongst them. Take the benefit of this competition and get the best quote for you. But while looking for a cheap quote, do not forget to check the kind of services these companies provide. For this you can check out with the ratings of these companies with different consumer forums. This is a compulsory step so as to be safe when it comes to claim the benefits.

These are a few things that you can check out with different companies before you buy an insurance policy. You can get the information of the company from their website or by calling on their customer care number. But my bet will be to take the advice of an insurance agent who can give you the smallest details of the drawbacks and the benefits of various insurance policies and can provide you with a choice of different policies offered by various insurance companies. And I can assure you that you can get the best advice from an independent insurance agent.

Long-Term Care Insurance Premiums: What Can I Deduct?

by Terry Stanfield

When tax season comes, all anyone seems to talk about is deductions. Not surprisingly, one of the most common questions about long-term care insurance premiums is “Can I deduct them?”

Well, the truth is that you can, in some cases, so find out where you sit in terms of deduction scenarios to find out what you can deduct from your long-term care insurance premiums.

First of all, if you are an individual taxpayer that does not itemize, then you are unable to claim a deduction on your long-term care insurance premiums. However, if you do itemize deductions then you can deduct the health insurance premium but it is limited to the lesser of the actual premium, or eligible long-term care premium.

If you are a self-employed tax payer, including partnerships, members of LLC, or sole proprietors, then you are eligible for a self-employed health insurance deduction on your IRS Form but it is limited to the lesser of actual premium paid but it is not subject to the 7.5 percent of Adjusted Gross Income threshold.

If your premiums are paid for by an employer, the employer will treat the long-term care insurance premiums as accident and health plans. These premiums would then be deductible to the employer and would not be including in the income of the employee.

It can get a bit complicated to understand what you can deduct and what you cannot deduct when tax season comes around. As a result, it is important that you contact your tax adviser or accountant to find out exactly what you can and cannot do. You do not want to try and deduct something you cannot and then face an audit, and at the same time you do not want to neglect to deduct what you can, forcing you to pay more or receive less on your income tax rebate.

If you do your own taxes, then consult your insurance company to find out what you are able to deduct on the long-term care insurance premiums that you pay to them. The representatives should be more than helpful in answering your questions and ensuring you do not end up audited, or not deducting what you can.

Summary Tax season is a stressful time for citizens and accountants alike. It is a time of trying to figure out what to deduct, what to exclude and how to get as much bang for their buck as possible. As a result, people will try and deduct everything that they can, including long-term care insurance premiums.

Many do not realize, however, what they can deduct in terms of their long-term care insurance premiums, but if they take the time to research the tax information and figure out where they sit in terms of the type of taxpayer they are, they should be able to figure it out. In the worst case scenario, an individual should just ask for help from an accountant or insurance representative who will be happy to answer any questions.

How To Design Your Own Closet Organization Systems

by Meryl Shana

If you’re planning to use a closet for extra storage space, you should learn about all the options you have when it comes to installing closet storage systems. There are literally thousands of different shelving units, bins, and boxes for you to pick from.

You’ll first need to decide what’s most important to you: Form, function, or a combination of the two. If it doesn’t matter how coordinated everything is in your storage area, you’ll have more options available to you. Canvas toes, rolling bins, and plastic tubs are just some examples.

You can find a wide variety of Rubbermaid plastic totes and bins that you can use to enhance your closet storage. You could use little containers normally used for leftover food to store craft items or hardware; you could use giant totes for some of your biggest items, such as cushions from the patio furniture or the holiday decorations.

Place the very largest bins on the floor, underneath wall mounted shelving, and fill the shelves themselves with an array of different sized bins.

Labeling is one of the keys to good closet storage systems. You should clearly label each tote, bin, and tub so that you’ll always know what’s inside.

You should keep all similar items together, and you should be able to tell at a glance what’s in any box. A label maker gives you an easy way to do this, and you can peel the labels off and change them later if necessary.

Another option is to label the storage bin with a permanent marker, or you can tape a piece of paper to the side or front of the bin that describes the contents.

Clear or translucent professional organizer bins are a great choice, since you don’t have to create quite so detailed labels for them. You can see the contents at a glance, which means you can be even more organized and save yourself some time.

Rubbermaid has a wide selection of these as well, which you can incorporate into your closet storage systems. Also, remember that you can get specialty storage items for your closet too, specially made for gift wrap, craft items, and other hobby supplies.
