Stop Barking Dogs The Easy Way

by Lacy Holly

This has been a part of our lives at one point or another. Someone has a dog that barks all the time and it doesn’t ever seem to stop. What makes it even worse is when it is you own dog that is causing all that ruckus and you have no clue how to stop barking dogs or where to even start.

You should be relieved to find out that all dogs bark for a reason, even though the reasons may not always stand out as clearly as we would have hoped. However, we do know that the main reason for dog barking is warn us of strangers who are walking near by.

If your dog is a chronic barker then you may need to look at several different causes before finding the right one that will stop a barking dog successfully. The majority of the time a dog barks because he is bored. If you have been very busy lately and haven’t been spending as much time with your furry friend as you’d like this may be the reason for your barking troubles.

Also, be sure that your dog has plenty of food and water as hunger or thirst could also be causing your dog to bark. Also check the outside temperature. Is it extremely hot or cold making your dog uncomfortable? If so, look into making him an inside dog or at least getting him a decent sized dog house or something that can serve as a shelter from weather.

You can usually stop barking dogs by just making sure they have everything they need, spending high quality time when you are home and providing some nice toys for them to play with when you are not around.

Giving your dog some obedience training will make a world of difference because you will be able to teach your dog a certain command that lets him know when he should stop barking. Plus, you and your dog will grow closer as you go through dog obedience training together.

Be considerate of your neighbors. Having been a neighbor of a chronic barker myself I know how stressful it can be to hear a barking dog all day long and not be able to do much of anything about it. If your neighbor comes to you and asks you to do something about your dog, don’t be defensive. You must realize that your dog may act differently when you are a work.

Even though our goal is to stop dog barking, we don’t want to get rid of it completely. Barking is the easiest way for our dogs to communicate with us and we don’t want to destroy that ability. So be sure to make sure his needs are fulfilled and then teach him when it is alright to bark and of course, when to stop barking.

The Checkbook IRA Can Expand Your Investment Strategy

by Self Directed IRA Advisor

A checkbook IRA allows you to have checkbook control of your IRA retirement account.

If you’re a seasoned real estate investor, you know just how fast expenses can add up on a piece of property. A few trips to your local Lowes home improvement store, a number of calls to your contractor or a simple mistake made by an inexperienced handyman means you have to shell out money, money, money - right out of your pocket.

Now consider for a moment the thought of having to get approval from your IRA custodian every time you needed to pay an expense related to your investment. It can be time-consuming, expensive and downright annoying, especially if you are up against a deadline. This is no way to handle what is arguably the most important asset you have or is it? After all, sometimes the best opportunities are found “on the spot.”

Having a checkbook IRA means practically being able to buy what you need when you need it and not when you can chase down your custodian for a signature. As you probably already know, sometimes the best investments are made before others learn about them. Without checkbook writing privileges, great investment opportunities could be missed.

How Checkbook Control Expands Your Investment Options?

Having checkbook control means you have the opportunity to self manage your IRA account to maximize your retirement investment without excess custodial intervention. You can invest in practically any way you want. The following is an abridged list of some of the items you can invest in with checkbook IRA: high yielding real estate notes, rental property, trust deeds, probate property, commercial real estate, foreign real estate, REO property, storage facilities, tax lien property.

Checkbook control of your IRA gives you true flexibility and the ability to truly diversify your retirement funds. Learn more about this special IRA or call Truly Self Directed IRA (TSD-IRA) to learn more at 877-339-4559.

Mutual Funds - Index Funds

by M. L. Williams

Since the 1970s mutual funds have been getting more and more popular, and investors like them so much that they have put several billions of dollars into this kind of investment.

A Popular Category of Mutual Fund - Index Funds

Although mutual funds can be sorted into a number of different categories, one of the most useful types of mutual funds is the index fund. This type of fund is very popular and widely held and for good reason.

Index Funds for Low Fees

One type of mutual funds is index mutual funds, which are used as a way to invest in a cross section of stocks and securities. This is in attempt to meet the most favorable stock indexes’ returns. As a couple examples, there are mutual funds that look to match the gains and losses of the Standard and Poors 500 as well as other funds that look to do the same with the Dow Jones Industrial Average.

Index funds advantages

There are several advantages to owning index funds, and I’ll elaborate about two of them here. The first advantage of index funds is that the average expenses are comparatively lower since they do not need active management.

The term “active management” means that a person who is in charge of buying and selling stock for a fund is actively involved. A fund is frequently bought and sold under the direction of the manager, which generates costs to go with such transactions.

And, active management requires that a fund manager be hired who is an expert in stock picking and trading. Such a manager, of course, requires a salary commensurate with the manager’s ability. Index funds, by contrast, require no active management. The stocks are chosen, often by a computer program, to match the return of the index with the least possible trading and virtually no discretion necessary on the part of the fund’s management.

A second advantage to index funds is tied to the first. Since more than half of the universe of managed funds under perform the broad market indexes, when you choose an index fund, you can be assured that your fund will not be in that under performing group.

That way, you pay the company less in fees, and your investment normally does about as well as the stock market index it is tied to. When looking for your next investment opportunity, you should consider index mutual funds.

Tools for Basic Lawn Care

by Rebecca Gardener

There were once very basic tools for lawn care. For once upon a time grass grew wild. Imagine going out into your yard with a hand scythe to cut it. That was a mere 150 years ago. So your dads grand dad really had only minor lawn care headaches back then, it would seem. But not you. There are now dozens of tools that need to be considered when thinking about keeping your lawn green and in tip top shape.

Your most basic lawn care tool would be the lawnmower. Look at cutting your lawn along the same lines as cutting your hair. It needs to be cut to stay healthy and look good, at least to domesticated society at any rate. d So you can either call in a pro or you can do it your self with the help of a good lawnmower. While it will be one of your largest yard care investments, if it is properly maintained, it will last a long, long time.

You will need to keep the blade sharp and inspect the spark plug to keep it clean. Check to see if it has and air filter as you will need to change that. Every year you should also change the oil just as you would in your car.

Moving right along, in order to keep your lawn neat, it is most times just a a matter that you can not completely carry out only by mowing. You will also need a trimmer and an edger. You will find that there are two basic types of these tools on the market. You have the long handled two blade model or example. You run its blade along the edges of the patio, your steps and any other edges to keep the lawn looking good.

The other type of trimmer uses a whirling device with a plastic string that spins out a few inches. This plastic then cuts off grass or other items you aim it at, so be careful of your trophy rose bushes. Gas powered are more expensive than electric. They tend to be lightweight and if found on sale, inexpensive You will need to replace the coil of plastic string every few months, but that is a minor expense.

On your list of basic lawn care tools should be a spreader or two is vital for evenly laying out fertilizer, weed killer and other compounds that help keep the lawn weed free, healthy and looking great. One sort is like a small lawnmower with no blade, just a tub with small holes and a roller that dispense material. Easy to use and long-lasting, they’re adjustable for a variety of applications.

A different style of spreader is a small hand-held piece. It is normally plastic and you dispense your compounds using a rotary handle. These are great for broadcasting grass seed and for repairing small bald lawn areas. You can use it to distribute other dry ingredients such as fertilizer beads and the like.

One of the most basic lawn care tools will be your rake. It is handy for many projects not just raking leaves in the fall. You want to rake your leaves because if they are left on the ground they will cause your grass to overheat and prohibit moisture from getting to the blades, as well as blocking out the sunshine. If you live in an area that gets substantial winter snow than at the end of winter you will need to do some power raking as the grass will be thatched and bound up.

This means that your grass blades are overlaying one another as on a thatched roof. This will prevent air circulation needed to keep the lawn healthy. So it is helpful to de-thatch the lawn using a special power tool, but really, if you have the back for it than your rake will work fine.

A long fork or narrow blade, long-handled shovel spade is great for spot removal of weeds. The larger square or rounded shovel will also be needed though for post hole-digging, transferring soil and plants and a dozen other tasks around the yard.

If you are smart and stock up on the basic lawn care tools and you work to keep them in good shape than your lawn care chores will be easier to get done. At least easier than your great grand dad had it using his scythe.
