Tips for Buying a Garden Summerhouse
Today there are many different types of summerhouses available, which come in kit form, which allows you the chance to construct it yourself. However, it is all well and good seeing a summerhouse you like but there are certain things that the manufacturers of these kits do not take into account when they are producing them.
So in order for you to select the right summerhouse for your garden there are certain things that you will need to think about first before you go out and buy your kit. In this article, we take a look at just what some of these things are that you should be taking into consideration.
1. Location - It is best that you choose a location in your garden into which the summerhouse will sit comfortably. It is best that you place it in a space that is large enough not only to accommodate the building but where you will be able to easily and safely work on the building as you erect it. Also you need enough space around the site that when working on any kind of equipment such as ladders you will not be restricted with regard to getting proper access to the area where you want to work.
2. Neighbours - Should you happen to be placing the summerhouse close to yours and your neighbour’s boundary fence or wall then discuss the matter with them first. This is especially important if you actually need access to their property in order that you can work on the building.
3. Height of Your Summerhouse - You need to check just how tall at the peak of the roof the building is going to be. Then you will need to make sure that if there are any trees or bushes in close proximity to where it is going to be erected that they are not going to encroach on to it. Otherwise, you could end up having to spend considerable amounts of time and money repairing damage that these plants have caused to the summerhouse.
4. Foundations- After you have carried out a thorough check of the location where your summerhouse is going to be erected you need to decide on what kind of foundation it will be erected on. Ideally, it is best to go with a concrete base, as this will then help you to have a much more solid foundation to which the frame of the summerhouse can be attached.
5. Erecting the Summerhouse - After the foundation has been laid and before you start to erect the building it is a good idea for you to read through the instructions that have been provided by the manufacturer of the kit. Also during this initial stage, you should look at all the pieces of summerhouse that have been provided to ensure that everyone that is in the kit is there. After you have erected the frame of the building, you should next start to build up its walls. Start off by building up to a height of around 18 inches from the frames base and then you can install the doorframe. Then after this, you should build the walls up further to a height that is about in line with your waist before you install the doors. After this, you can the build up the rest of the walls before you finally put on the roof.
By keeping the above pointers, we have mentioned in mind, you will find that not only choosing but also erecting a summerhouse in your garden will be much easier. Another thing one should also remember is that with any building including summerhouses that are over 100 square feet you will need to obtain a local building permit before you begin erecting it.
