Is Homeschool High School Right For You?

by Kayley Kenzie

For many parents and students, choosing homeschool high school can be a wise decision. A lot of people think homeschooling is mostly practical for younger children, but that isn’t so.

In fact, there are homeschooling courses to prepare students for college. There are homeschool resources for children of any age.

As more and more parents seek an alternative to the public education system, homeschooling–which has been around for a long time–has become more popular.

Parents are increasingly interested in having personal control over their child’s education. A lot of this is a result of the immoral concepts taught in school, along with a curriculum that demands less and less.

When parents choose to homeschool, they are able to direct and supervise what their children are learning. In essence, they teach subject matter that’s most important to them. When you teach at home, you are providing a sense of security and getting more quality time with your child.

If you are attracted to the idea of a homeschool high school education, you need to be aware that there are different resources available to you.

No matter what kind of education you want to provide for your child, you can find something out there that will specifically help you.

If you want to tailor religion into your child’s studies, you can apply it in curriculum and lessons for homeschool high school education.

Different curriculums focus on the arts, or on science. Those are just a couple of examples out of the many different options you can choose from.

An additional homeschooling method involves student-paced learning. This means your child is able to progress at his or her personal learning speed. This allows your child to master each concept before moving on to the next exercise or lesson.

Your community probably offers homeschooling programs that you can take advantage of. You can also find theme-based units that teach different subjects revolving around one theme.

There are also all-in-one programs that address your child’s education for an entire year. You might also consider researching homeschool high school curricula aimed at older children. It’s certainly worth examining.

Homeschool History - The History of Home School

by Kayley Kenzie

What is homeschooling? It’s home education, a method of teaching that’s conducted in the family home instead of a public, charter, or private school. Before we had anything like public education, everyone was schooled at home.

Sometimes children could learn from small learning communities. Homeschool history is complex and rich, since it was the earliest method for teaching.

If a child had an education to speak of, or was instructed by private tutors, he or she was seen as being advantaged. These children usually had important or wealthy families.

The only method of gaining an education was informally in the home. Normally parents were the main educators, although at times there were local teachers who would help out.

It is commonly known that before public education began, the United States was at its peak with literacy. This fact in homeschool history is important to remember.

Schooling and educational methods started undergoing a lot of changes in the 1800s. One of the most major changes was implementing laws for compulsory school attendance. The government made it known that education was a human right: Children were entitled to receive a public education.

There has been a lot of debate over the success of public schools since that time. People have even claimed that the public school system is hurting younger children, especially boys, since they mature more slowly.

There have even been studies conducted to observe the effects the education system has on children between eight and twelve years of age.

The research led to this conclusion: That formal schooling is damaging children in mental and physical ways. Some behavioral problems are a direct result of this negativity.

These studies were conducted in the 1970s, and according to these tests, tribal mothers in Africa with no literacy were able to bring up their children to be more emotionally and socially advanced than Western children.

Some think that the difference was due to the bond between parents and children. Obviously, the bond isn’t strengthened by formal education.

Homeschool history shows a positive trend, and parents follow it by choosing a variety of curricula and teaching methods for their children. Although schooling can be done in a secure home environment, it’s usually mandatory for children to complete required tests.

Parents who decide to teach their children at home usually do so because they want to give their children the best education.

Change What Money Makes You Feel

by William Blake

Some people spend and some people save. Why is that? Our attitudes and thinking about money determine our spending habits. Changing the way you spend requires an attitude adjustment.

we learn how and what to think about money at a very early age- how do you view money? As children, we see our parents and how they handle the money they have. Some of us had parents that made very little money, and some of use had parents that made much more money at their jobs.

Wherever you came from, the way you feel about money has probably come from those around you, including unhealthy views. If money was a sore topic in your home, you are likely to avoid discussing it. This could lead to bad havbits such as overspending, and money being even more taboo.

If money flowed freely, then you could become a free spender as an adult. Even if your means are more limited than your parents’, you may continue to spend as if you had a million dollars. This type of money attitude can lead to a debt burden too big for you to carry.

Childhood stories about money can also mimic real life. For instance Ebenezer Scrooge- he grew up without money, and as an adult he was obsessed with it. He gave up all other pleasures- only his money was important to him. Who wants to end up living like that?

Change your attitude towards money. Having the desire to do so is the first step. It is not an easy process, but if you are determined to learn how to do it, you have a fighting chance.

Visit with a financial advisor. Talk to them about your money woes and your views about money. Tell them what you want to accomplish with your money. A financial advisor can take your money and other assets and create a portfolio for you. The portfolio includes how to invest and what to invest in.

Financial advisors may also be able to work with you to help design a budget. If you are tight spending money, a budget can help you set aside money for extras each month. Someone with a frugal attitude about money may not wish to set aside money for extras, but they can learn. Hopefully, they will learn to relax and to enjoy the rewards of money at some point in the future.

Big spenders should learn to use a budget to scale back their spending. Learn to spend for special occasions, and not excessively every day. Money won’t continue to come in this way, unless we plan for it to continue. Spenders must realize that they need to learn to save money for later on in life.

What is your money attitude? Is it helping or hurting you? To improve your life, why not talk to a financial expert about healthy changes to your money attitude.

Water Filters Are Essential Kitchen Appliances

by Chris Hamilton

The main constituent of our body is water with some parts, such as the liver, being 90% water. Without fresh clean water we would not survive and doctors say we must drink at least 64 fl oz every single day. Unfortunately nearly all water, in it’s natural environment such as lakes, also contains chemicals and organisms harmful to our health so it is necessary to treat all drinking water by using large industrial water filters.

Most of planet earth is covered by water but there are many regions that suffer a lack of it. In these areas the water that is available is often polluted and infected with bacteria and other organisms. In such places water filters are often the only way in which a person can obtain water clean enough to drink. However it is both surprising and upsetting that there are still a great many places that suffer from the lack of adequate water filtering equipment.

In many modern parts of the world there are strict government and local laws governing what should or should not be included in drinking water supplies. Strict rules and regulations are used in an attempt to ensure that our drinking water is perfectly safe drink. However our water often contains very small amounts (called trace elements) of substances which are incredibly harmful if ingested in larger amounts. As more and more people become aware of this they increasingly use water filters to ensure all substances, even those that have been added to the water, are removed completely.

Aluminum is an incredibly dangerous substance which is highly poisonous if ingested. However it is extremely common to find aluminum in drinking water supplies but only in very minute traces. Unfortunately there was a case in Cornwall, England where there was a mistake made in the water treatment plant which led to too much aluminum being added to the water. The water was declared unsafe to drink for some time until it had cleared through the system but many believe that it caused physical harm to many.

Fluoride is now added to a great many water supplies around the globe in the belief that it helps prevent tooth decay. However, because fluoride can be extremely dangerous, especially to babies and young children, a number have conspiracy theories have developed around the reasons why it is added to so many drinking water supplies. Many such theories seem extremely unlikely but the question is often raised when there is actually little evidence supporting the official reasons. Even toothpaste, which contains the substance, has been known to carry very specific health warnings to deter people from eating even the smallest amounts.

The two substances mentioned above are only two of a great many substances which can be found in drinking water. With so many health scares and the need to look after ourselves by ensuring that we only eat healthy foods is it any wonder that many of us now use water filters for our drinking water. Some people are so afraid that they have massive systems installed to filter all of the household water.

Of course there is a massive selection to choose from if you are in search of a water filter. Available in different sizes and, of course, different prices, there is a type of water filter available for virtually any need. Sizes range from the very small which filer a few cups of water, to the large systems installed to filter all of the household water. Even larger systems are available but usually for industrial installations.

As well as making our water safer to drink filtered water takes on a completely different flavor. Hot and cold drinks will taste better and you will soon notice a vast difference between filtered and unfiltered water. The difference is so great that you will find it difficult to live without your water filter.
