When Do I Call In A Credit Collection Agency?

by JR Rooney

You should call in a credit collection agency sooner rather than later. The longer you wait to start the collection process on overdue accounts, the less of a chance you’ll have at recovering your money.

The day after an account becomes overdue, you should place a polite phone call to the customer who owes you money. If that doesn’t work, you may want to send a few reminder letters yourself, or you may want to go directly to a credit collection agency. Base your decision on how much money is owed to you and the history of your relationship with the customer. If it’s the first time you are doing business with them, you’ll want to call in a credit collection agency earlier than you would with a 10-year customer with a solid credit history.

Most companies call in a credit collection agency once a debt is 60 days to 90 days past due. If you wait much longer than 90 days to begin collecting unpaid receivables, your chance of collecting drops dramatically.

If you discover that your account has gone out of business, find out what type of business it was - a corporation, a partnership, or a proprietorship. If it was a corporation, don’t even bother calling for the help of a collection agency. It is doubtful that you, or any one else, will be able to squeeze the last few nickels out of that client. If the company is a partnership or a proprietorship, you may be able to get the individual owners of the company to pay you out of their own pockets.

If you try to recover an account and fail, consider that loss a tax-deductible item (Tax Code IRC 166, Reg. 1.166). You will be able to deduct the cost of the goods sold (but not paid for) as an ordinary business expense. You can’t deduct any lost profits from the sale, nor can you deduct the money owed for services rendered.

Payroll Management: Success To Business

by George Purdy

The greatest challenge for an international corporation is the management of its human resources. However, this area also offers the greatest chance to enhance maintainable profit increases. There are a number of functions which fall under the heading of human resource management, but HR executives feel that dealing with wages and benefits is the most crucial one. Each corporation must tailor its payroll management process and policies to fits its own requirements. It should think as well about automating using payroll processing software, since this change brings unrivaled advantages.

There is a reason that managers put so much emphasis on the effective management of payrolls. A good manager understands that, while his employees may also find great satisfaction from their jobs, there is really one major reason that motivates people to work. Put simply, it is that jobs are the mechanism through which we earn our livings and put food on the table. Therefore, workers must be able to trust that the payroll system will function smoothly.

The main motivation for working hard is making money. And if you’ve been employed for the last 12 months, you routinely expect that a raise in pay will be forthcoming. Career development is mostly about wage increases. Of course, each company would like to fully look into the ramifications of its salary expenditures and weigh the impact of career management actions on its bottom line.

Another reason that payroll management is important is because of corporate taxes that firms are required to pay the government. Often, the tax returns of corporations employees are filed through the corporation since a tax deduction can often be taken for filing through the source. Thus, the firm has the responsibility for providing accurate, transparent returns. Proper payroll management is the way that most firms fulfill their responsibility.

Employees generally put part of their month’s wages into company-run funds, public provident funds, tax-saving accounts, postal savings programs, life insurance, and so on. Because payment transfers for these prudent activities occur at the time the wages are prepared, payroll management software must enter the payouts into the worker’s wage file in its database.

There are several innovative new concepts and technologies that are beginning to be used in payroll processing. One of these is a special payroll card, resembling a debit card, that is provided by firms in lieu of a traditional paper paycheck. Also, several payroll management software programs have been successfully used by global corporations.

Global organizations are faced with the challenge of managing human resources. Payroll management policies and procedures are often initiated to achieve this growth. Career development firms are very interested in changes made to pay rates. Most businesses want to take a close look at their salary costs and examine the impact of career management efforts on the company’s overall financial well being. Getting paid is the reason why people work hard. Career firms are very interested in changes made to pay rates. Instead of paper paychecks, most firms provide their employees a special payroll card which resembles a debit card.

Green Janitorial Hoax

by Michael Richmond

The focus for “Going Green” is almost all about products, and the product providers has been more than anxious to celebrate the new opportunities to capture this new market. The feeding frenzy will continue for a while yet, but what happens when nearly every janitorial firm has added some Green products to their carts? The equalization factor kicks in, and nearly every janitorial firm will claim to be Green by self-acclamation, but has anything really changed?

The confusion is the belief that a product will create a Green service. It does not work like that, but is sets the tone for an ongoing self-deception and a fraud of others. Does a great set of tools turn an amateur into a trained mechanic? Does buying a dress that is two sizes too small make a woman slimmer? Does the purchase of a set of golf clubs enable a person to plan in the Master’s Tournament? The facts are that buying an product will not turn your company into something that it is not.

The Green program means that the workforce needs a working knowledge of Green practices along with the new supply of Green products. The fact is that the workers in a janitorial service as far more important than the choice of products. There are dozens of new procedures that are required for a Green janitorial service that include “Dwell Time,” microfiber use, and how to handle dusting an office.

There are hundreds of issues in HOW the Green janitorial firm is to perform their janitorial tasks that are as important as WHAT Green product happens to suddenly appear in the weekly supplies passed around. Going Green seems to be passed to the workers by osmosis and undefined training protocol. This, quite frankly, means that most Green janitorial services are well-intended frauds to the customers that they serve. Their Green status is little more than a false veneer that has little depth in the character of the people charged with carrying out the Green mandates being passed down to these ill-equipped workers.

The Green Clean Institute is the only program designed to train and certify a janitorial service in Green practices and the assist a janitorial service implement a Green program. This is a federal trademark that offers more than good intentions. The janitorial industry is in transition from a “task-oriented” service to a “service-oriented” program that requires a solid basis of working knowledge. This is the time to step up to a higher set of standards, new mandates, and duties that impact the safety, health, and future of all those working in our schools and offices.

A little study of the word custodian reveals that there is a serious contribution by these often ignored workers. The challenges of our generation creates an even greater duty than ever before. In this era of strain of our resources, new threats to our health, and new environmental legislation, the custodial duty is to protect our general health through a better working environment. The fraud being carried out by quasi-Green janitorial services will soon hit the wall when professionally evaluated.

I advise you not to simply stick you toe into the Green Clean program. It is he smart choice to realize that a Green program is a long term commitment to a new process. We are not talking about saving the whales, trading your car for a bicycle, or turning vegetarian. It is obvious that the Green movement is a permanent direction that places more emphasis on the health of the workers than the shine of the floor. Understand that a Green program has three important parts: Green Agenda by decision makers, Green Products, and Green Practices by the workforce. Isn’t it time to truly “Go Green” rather than fake it?
